Back to uni

Back to uni

I often wonder who creates the calendar dates for my uni.
It’s obvious they’re not gay, nor do they know anything about the -˜gay calendar’, because for some reason they always make sure the first week of semester is either the week before, or the Monday after, the big parade and party.
Who has time for uni the week before, and does anybody really feel like showing up for a lecture first thing Monday morning?
Now that’s out of my system, I am actually glad to be back at uni.  Partly because it’s a reason to go out and buy a new bag, some clothes for your first day (got to make a good impression) and spend a good hour and a half walking the aisles of Office Works getting all your essentials together.  I love stationery shopping.
I’m studying at the University of Western Sydney (UWS). Much as I love it, sometimes I feel I’m the only gay in the village.
Well, that was until recently when I discovered that UWS has a queer collective.  Although the group is small at present, the aim is to get bigger.
The queer collective is a great way to get to know other students on campus who all have something in common.
If you’re interested in what is going on at UWS for queer students email [email protected] and ask to join the mailing list or you can join the Facebook group -˜UWS Queer Collective’.
You will receive information on what’s coming up, and things to get involved in.
Somewhere in between catching up with friends and making new ones I have to get all my assignment done.  Maybe next semester!
