Party season on the coast

Party season on the coast

Who loves a partay, who loves a partay — hold on to your wigs and glitter because North Coast party season is about to kick off. Tropical Fruits parties are legendary, so don’t miss the Tropical Fruits ‘Hard Labour Tattoo’ party on Saturday October 3. Held in a gorgeous rural setting from 9pm-3am, it promises to be a blast.
Tickets are also available for their New Years Eve party, ‘The Elements’. This year the party has been expanded to include a festival of films, art and culture. Of course Tropical Fruits always welcomes volunteers and this is a fun, worthwhile way to become involved in your community.
For more info visit www.tropicalfruits.org.au.
Another way to participate is to become an ACON Rover. ACON NR has been providing Rovers for Tropical Fruits NYE parties since 2004.
ACON Rovers are trained volunteers who work with party staff and partygoers to help keep events safe. In an emergency they can help get people to medical attention quickly.
Rovers come from all walks of life, and include people from our community who like to party and those who may not party so much any more. Fun, comprehensive training is offered over two days.
So if you would like to be involved in parties in a new way, or to register for the October 16/17 Rover training please contact Sioux.
Finally, if you are a gay man, while you are out and about you may be asked if you would like to participate in the Regional Gay Community Periodic Survey. This survey has been conducted six-monthly since 1996 in the Sydney metropolitan area and annually in other Australian cities. 2009 is the first time it has been rolled out to the regions. Totally anonymous, the info gathered forms a crucial part of New South Wales’ HIV response. If you would like to know more or participate in this survey ring Ian at the branch.
