Transform into a butterfly

Tropical Fruits will host another fabulous party for the Queen’s Birthday holiday weekend. Get ready for the wonders of glamorous insect life with the Butterfly Ball on Saturday, June 9, 6pm-midnight, at Jiggi Hall.

This will be a great opportunity to dust off that mothballed outfit or be inspired to create a stunning ensemble befitting the colourful nature of the Northern Rivers.

Due to the cooler winter months, Tropical Fruits have decided to experiment with event times for this party and will kick off at 6pm. This will give people the chance to come early and join the Fruits for woodfired pizza, have a great party and a groovy dance without missing too much precious sleep!

Lismore’s local Fresh Fruits LGBTI social youth group meets once a fortnight. An upcoming theme to be discussed and explored is “Coming Out”.

Why do we need to come out? Do we need to do it and when is a safe time and place to consider coming out? These and many other questions will be explored at this wonderful group. Fresh Fruits has more than 100 members and this number is growing.

Fresh Fruits is a safe space for all young people regardless of their sexuality or gender identity. If you don’t quite fit into the square peg, maybe Fresh Fruits is for you!

For more information on dates, time and location, contact the group at [email protected] or call Tropical Fruits on 02 6622 6440 or ACON Northern Rivers on 02 6622 1555.

National Reconciliation Week is celebrated across Australia each year between May 27 and June 3. The dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey — the anniversaries of the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.

The week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared cultures, histories and achievements and to explore how each of us can join the reconciliation effort.
