Hen$ to get a little dirty for equality

The upcoming Dirty Hen$ Night fundraiser for Australian Marriage Equality (AME) now has a date and a venue.

DJ and local promoter Feisty will lend her Dirty brand to the event to give it a queer bent edge and has promised one of the filthiest hens nights to be held in Sydney to date.

Feisty is joined by Janine Tennille from Candy Lips fame in co-producing the event.

The Dirty Hen$ party will be held on Friday, September 23 at The Exchange Hotel’s Q Bar and 34B, home of some of Sydney’s best burlesque.

Sydney’s dirtiest DJ’s will host a dirty dance off in 34B, while Q Bar will turn into the ultimate playgirls fantasy club, complete burlesque acts, strippers and other special performers, and partygoers can receive a lap dance for a fee.

A host of of Sydney’s hottest female DJs have donated their services for the party including Feisty herself, Kate Monroe, GI Jode, Sandi Hotrod, Bella — and coming out of retirement just for the night will be DJ Kelly Lynch.

Further DJs and performers will be announced closer to the event.

The Dirty Hen$ Night is supported by the Star Observer, New Mardi Gras, Dykes on Bikes, and Lemons with a Twist, with more community groups and businesses coming on as supporters daily.

Artwork for the Dirty Hen$ Night party will also be a special treat. Photographed by Hayden Brotchie and designed by Lewis Oswald, organisers have taken a “dykonic” image and giving it a modern twist to remind us how far we have come in the fight for equality.

Party organiser Steph Sands said now was a critical time in the fight for marriage equality.

“Achieving marriage equality is a fight that is now there for us to win,” Sands said. “It is also ours to lose.

“Supporting AME is critical at this time in the lead up to the ALP national conference in December.”

INFO: Dirty Hen$ Night is on September 23 at Q Bar/34B, 41 Oxford St. Tickets from www.daisytickets.com from August 10.
