Aurora adds spice to Sports Village

There will be plenty of ra-ra and pizzazz at this Sunday’s Fair Day Sports Village thanks to the award-winning Phoenix All-Stars cheerleaders.

The All-Stars are set to perform as the guests of honour at the Sports Village, hoping to draw in throngs of people eager to join sporting clubs.

It’s a huge attraction on the day, Team Sydney president Geoffrey Radford said of the annual
centrepiece performance which two years ago featured Olympic trampolinist Ji Wallace.

Where we’re situated up there on the hill is such a focal point so people come like bees around a honey pot. [The All Stars] have those stunning costumes so it’ll be quite an attraction.

Penny Gulliver’s martial arts and salsa students will also make their presence known, ensuring there’s always something to attract passers-by.

The Sports Village’s stalls will have registration details for 17 different sports, as well as the Outgames and Gay Games.

We got a grant from Aurora, which is really what made this all possible, as well as money given to us by an anonymous donor who gave us $1000. It’s enabled us to put this on, because it’s not a cheap little enterprise but it’s hopefully going to ensure a really great day for all the clubs, Radford said.
