Call to write sex diaries

Social commentator Bettina Arndt has called on homosexual couples to keep sex diaries. The information will be used in Ardnt’s new book about how couples negotiate sex supply.
Those couples interested in participating would individually track fluctuations in desire, report on who initiates sexual contact, and document how they felt at the time.
“One of the questions I am interested in is this notion of ‘lesbian bed death’,” she said. “We do know that it is normally the woman with the lower sex drive who ultimately determines the frequency of sex. So when you get two women together, would they rather have a good night’s sleep?”
And with gay men, Arndt said, you would assume they would have a more robust sex drive.
“Of course everything we read about the gay world would reinforce that, in terms of sex practices,” she said.
“There is an assumption that homosexual men have a pretty strong sex drive on average.”
The sex diaries will be anonymous and nothing would be printed without prior checking. People in established relationships are preferred.
Melbourne University Press Publishing will print the book.
