Pop star Dannii Minogue will be asked to front the next same-sex marriage rally in Sydney in May.
2Day FM newsreader Geoff Field told the scores of people at Saturday’s rally at Sydney Town Hall the disco diva had told him via Twitter to send her support for the rally.
More than 500 people took to the streets for the rally. Key speakers included Greens MLC Lee Rhiannon, Organisation Internationale des Intersexués Australia’s Gina Wilson and gender activist norrie mAy-welby.
“When famous people get behind the rallies and come out publicly in support of equality for all, it really is a sign of just how significant and supported the fight for marriage equality is in Australia and how unpopular the ban on same-sex marriage is within the Australian community,” Community Action Against Homophobia co-convenor Ben Cooper said.
The next rally for marriage equality is on Saturday, May 15 at Sydney Town Hall from 1pm. Vanessa Wagner will host the event.
