Apple Isle pride getting sweeter each year

Apple Isle pride getting sweeter each year

Tasmanian Pride, or TasPride as it’s better known, is fast approaching for those thinking of diving across Bass Strait for a queer weekend away.
TasPride is in the relaunch phase and looking further afield to expand the festival which this year runs from October 31 to November 15.
The island state certainly punches above its weight when it comes to GLBT law reform, and is now set to throw a two-week party to rival the other states.
Although focused on growth, organisers say TasPride is still very much about the community rather than commercialism.
This week marks the Launceston opening of the Artfully Queer exhibition with the theme ‘Figure It Out’. Thanks to a $5000 grant from Launceston City Council, the northern city features five of the festival’s main events.  The art exhibition will open in Hobart later this month, featuring the work of local queer artists.

Support the Star Observer… while you still can

LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.

When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.

Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
