US gay marriage ad inspired by Aussie effort
A popular marriage equality campaign video from Australia, which became a global sensation last year, has spurred an American offshoot.
The “It’s Time” television spot by GetUp! was watched by millions and spawned the new video by US writer/director Amanda Deibert with a different plot but the same message.
The video, titled Love is Love, was posted last Sunday. The creator said she was inspired by the original Australian video and its first-person camera view. Deibert’s video tells the story of another gay couple as they spend their entire life together.
It has already attracted more than 11,000 viewers.
