“Devastating”: Sydney’s Spookiest (And Sexiest) Party, Halloween Wh*res, Scared Off This Year

Sydney’s most iconic, sexy, and delightfully queer Halloween party, Halloween Wh*res, is taking a break this year. 4the.love, the events team behind the fervently loved costume party, took to Instagram over the weekend to announce the news, citing NSW Police’s recent intrusions upon Oxford Street as among the deciding factors.
“We’ve made the difficult (and slightly chilling) call to pause Halloween Wh*res for 2026,” the post read. “For those who know us, what drives our little passionate team is the opportunity to ooze out every last drop of our sickly creative juices to bring you the most ridiculously rancid & joyfully juicy Halloween experience Sydney has to offer… without making the ticket price the real horror.
“Although we had a sweet soirée of sinfully sordid surprises brewing for you, delivering the whorrific fun experience that both we crave and you deserve just wasn’t possible this year. Between the cost-of-living squeeze, increased event costs & complexity, and reports of aggressive policing affecting the vibe on the strip, we felt there were too many factors making taking on the risk for our little team a little too monstrous.”
Halloween Wh*res, A Party Like No Other
Halloween Wh*res is known for its meticulous and immersive set design, impeccable DJ line-up, and an unapologetically queer vibe that sets it apart from its competitors. In 2025 it was held at Kinselas, featuring a subterranean dancefloor in the former-funeral parlour’s “crypt”. The event is also known to attract some of the most spooky (and droolworthy) costumes Sydney has to offer, with awards given out for a number of categories, including “funniest”, “sexiest”, and “scariest”.
The news was received by fans with sadness, but also gratitude that Halloween Wh*res has refused to compromise on quality, with many already excited for what’s in store for the party next year.
“Best party of the year,” one Instagram user wrote in the comments, “because you do SUCH a great job! We will look forward to next time”.
4the.love has already confirmed there will be a “rancid resurrection” of the Halloween Wh*res next year (“Hellelujah!”, and has encouraged their loyal followers to “show some love” to the other parties on offer this spooky season.
