No Wh*res, No Horrorween. Are Any Sydney Gay Halloween Parties Actually Still On?

Just under a week ago, Sydney’s sluttiest queer halloween party, Halloween Wh*res, announced it would give this year a miss. Just a few days later, its opulent, high-budget rival, GAYM Entertainment’s very own Horrorween, made a similar announcement. With Sydney’s two biggest queer halloween events no longer running, some gays are now wondering if there’s much left to do this spooky season. 

Well, as it turns out, there’s plenty.

What’s On In Sydney This Gay Halloween?

First up, we have POOF DOOF’s Halloqween Ball. To be held on the 31st of October at The Ivy, this costume extravaganza isn’t going to wait for your last-minute “slutty devil” Etsy find to arrive. So sort your outfit and your tickets pronto, because third release is already on sale, and it won’t last forever. 

Next, there’s HALLO YOU, also on October 31. Yep, this fresh halloween contender comes from the same “YOU” that’s been taking over Arq every Saturday night since June. Expect this one, also from the producers of Horrorween, to bring the same hit vibes with a touch of spooky.

Finally, there’s the afterparty to end it all (if you have the guts). That’s right, Morning Glory is running an official HALLO YOU afterparty at HOME rooftop. Technically, this one kicks off on November 1, because, whether to your delight or dismay, doors only open at 3 am. While this early morning rave is always chaos, the organisers have invited attendees to be especially weird for their Halloween special.

“Be weird, be wonderful, be a complete f*cking whack job for this one,” reads the official announcement. 

“Come straight from wherever, arrive in something ridiculous and meet your nearest, dearest and queerest as we dance our way through breakfast… and because it’s Halloween, we expect commitment.

“Hot? Great.
Scary? Even better.
Slightly concerning? Perfect.”
