High femme drag icon Gottmik has cancelled their multiple upcoming Australian appearances over the next two months, including both her slated Poof Doof performances at Sydney’s Halloqween Ball (31 October) and Melbourne’s Cup Eve Rave (2 November).

Gottmik Addresses Fans

The popular American drag queen, known for being the first transgender man to compete on RuPaul’s Drag Race, took to Instagram on Monday to deliver the news.

“To everyone who was looking forward to seeing me on the upcoming Asia and Australia tour,” Gottmik began, the white text rendered on a plain black background.

“I was so excited to perform for you all and I want you to know that every effort was made to find a way to make these shows happen. Unfortunately, despite those efforts, I won’t be able to move forward with my upcoming Halloween performances.

“Following a challenging period in my life, I’ve been taking time to reflect and focus on my health, personal growth, and making meaningful changes moving forward. I know that growth takes time, and I’m committed to doing the work.

“I am beyond grateful for the continued love, patience, and understanding from my fans and everyone who has supported me. Performing and connecting with you guys around the world means literally everything to me, and I can’t wait to get back to doing what I love when the time is right.”

The drag icon went on to remind her fans that refunds to the events where her appearances were cancelled are available and thanked them for their understanding and support.

Online Speculation Links Cancellation To DUI Charge

While Gottmik did not disclose the reason for her cancellations in greater specificity, individuals have speculated they relate to the star’s arrest on September 16.

According to an arrest log published by the Burbank Police Department, Gottmik was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol when a black Porsche crashed into multiple parked vehicles. Accordingly, online users have posited the DUI charge may have affected her Australian visa.
