TWILIGHT star Kristen Stewart has broken her silence about her sexuality.

Stewart has been the focus of intense speculation about her sexuality since breaking up with her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson in 2012. Since then she has been spotted holding hands with a number of women, and even her mother confirmed that she had met one of Kristen’s girlfriends.

In an interview with Variety, Stewart said she didn’t feel the need to define her sexuality.

“When I was dating a guy, I would never talk about my relationships to anyone. I feel the same way now. I’m not hiding sh*t,” Stewart said.

“And I’m very obviously…”

Stewart cut off the sentence there but later said that she wants to be a part of the current LGBT movement as she finds it “so important”. She stops short of saying the gay word.

“You don’t have to immediately know how to define yourself,” Stewart said.

“I had to have some answer about who I was. I felt this weird responsibility, because I didn’t want to seem fearful. But nothing seemed appropriate. So I was like, ‘F—k, how do I define that?’ I’m not going to. Plus, I didn’t want to f—k with other people.”

Stewart said she decided to appear publicly with girlfriends in front of paparazzi for the sake of her young fans.

“That’s really important to me,” she said.

“As much as I want to protect myself, it’s not about hiding. As soon as you start throwing up so many walls, you cannot see over them yourself, so you just start isolating in a way that’s not honest. I definitely found where I’m comfortable. I don’t take credit for that.”
