Dance and drag

With Easter fast approaching, the Gateway Hotel kicks off festivities a week earlier, hosting their biggest annual dance and drag night, Back to The Cri’, this Friday 3 April.

There will be music of the golden eras of the ’50s through to the ’70s with many favourite divas of drag’s yesteryear bursting out of retirement for a glamorous line-up of entertainment.

DJ Kerry plays all the classics with the Hunter’s matriarch of drag, Bubbles Le Gay, hosting. Money raised is donated to the ACON Care and Support Project for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Two ticket options are available; the complete ticket is $20 for dinner, starting at 7pm, with dance included. The dance-only ticket is $10 starting from 9pm.

Tickets are available from ACON or the Gateway Hotel. This event is usually a sell-out but a limited number of tickets may be available at the door. Contact the Gateway Hotel on 4969 1848 or visit clubg.com.au

On Saturday 25 April there are two events on the mid-North Coast. Coastal Castaways and Coastal Lynx are hosting ’70s Flower Power Dance at Moondrook Hall between Tinonee and Wingham from 7pm.

Also the Macleay Women’s Dance will be held at Kalatini Hall. Call ACON 6584 0943 for details.
On Saturday 2 May Rainbow Visions in conjunction with Centrelink is holding an information session in Newcastle about the impact of same-sex legislation on Centrelink benefit recipients. Visit rainbowvisions.org.au for details.
