Dynamic duo call it a day

After eight years, 550 shows and over 1400 on-air hours, JOY 94.9 stalwarts Andy and Adrian (aka Andy Kay and Adrian Perillo) are wrapping up their popular breakfast show.

Kay has taken a role in commercial radio, while Perillo will be taking time out to focus on his other career whilst raising his nine-month-old twins, Thomas and Alice.

“It’s a bittersweet decision because although we will miss JOY and the show, it means that we can follow some of our other dreams,” Kay said.

“We’ve grown up on JOY, talking about everything from our relationships to our renovations, and even having kids. This is our next step.”

Perillo said he couldn’t be prouder of his co-presenter for taking the next step in commercial radio.

“He’ll be hosting the Logies in no time,” he said.

Some of the duo’s highlights include their tri-state tour, the support of listeners during JOY’s membership drives and their Supermarket Sweep revival in 2010, which was co-hosted by the late Ian Turpie.

Their final show will be on Thursday, April 5 and they’ll be holding a farewell party at ICE Café in Prahran (30 Cato St) from 6.30pm that evening.

They invite listeners to come down to have a drink with them and say farewell.

“Our listeners have been such a huge part of our show and we want them to be part of our send-off,” Kay said.
