Fashionable show of support

A military-inspired fashion show will take place this weekend to raise money for the Victorian AIDS Council/Gay Men’s Health Centre (VAC/GMHC).

St Kilda fashion designer Aron Katona — behind the ARON fashion label — will join jewellery designer Victoria St John to stage the fundraiser which will feature ARON’s new range of military garb and St John’s new jewellery collection.

“We are so excited about our collections and the show, as much of our inspiration has arisen from the desire to combat AIDS,” Katona said.

The event will be held in Flinders Lane on Saturday, April 16, 11.30pm and $5 from every $25 ticket sold will be donated to the VAC. A raffle will also be held on the night with jewellery and clothing up for grabs.

VAC/GMHC communications coordinator Sian Syddall said the VAC was grateful for the support.

“We provide practical and emotional support for Victorians affected by HIV and undertake important preventative work to reduce the transmission of HIV and sexually transmitted infections in our community,” she said.

“Funds raised through community events greatly assist us in our work, enabling us to fund projects and services that we couldn’t otherwise afford.”

Tickets can be purchased on the night at Fashion Lounge, 121 Flinders Lane.
