Laughter everyday is our Valentine’s present

Laughter everyday is our Valentine’s present

The co-chair of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Siri Kommedahl and her partner Lisa Bradley don’t get caught up too much on Valentine’s Day, saying everyday is worth celebrating when you’re in love.

Kommedahl recounts: “We met in 1997 at Fruits in Suits – Lisa was the Treasurer of SGLBA at the time. I remember watching her coming across the room to talk to me and my partner, and from then on we were best friends.”

Despite the long term friendship, this couple who are very much in love said the transition from the best of friends to living under the same roof was not all rosy. Kommedahl confesses: “We became partners in 2006 but it was a stormy two years from there. We are both very strong personalities so living under the same roof had its moments.

“Now I can’t imagine being happier and I know we will be together for the rest of our time on earth. It just works and Lisa is the most wonderful woman I’ve ever met. I can’t articulate the reasons for why I love her – just down deep in my soul  – I just do.”
Bradley spoke of her affection for Kommedahl: “Siri is gorgeous and a wonderful, caring partner. I’m  often not serious and Siri is great to poke fun at because she is such a good sport –  but she is the calm to my storm and I can’t imagine life without her.”
For this happy couple, laughter is their Valentine.
