Locals prove an influential bunch

Melburnian and marriage equality campaigner Ali Hogg has been named as one of the 25 most influential gay and lesbian Australians by www.SameSame.com.au Hogg has led successful same-sex marriage rallies in Melbourne for a number of years, some of the largest gatherings across the country in support of the cause.

“The award reflects the persistence of the many thousands of people who have taken to the streets to demand their rights,” Hogg said.

Hogg will no doubt lead the charge at the next Melbourne rally on March 26.

Other locals to be listed in the annual accolade include former Olympic swimmer Daniel Kowalski, director Emma Freeman, theatre producer John Frost, comedian Josh Thomas, researcher Lynne Hillier, and commentator Tim Wilson.
