Spreading the love of fitness

Spreading the love of fitness

Sports Day Out returns on 12 October to unite 12 tribes of GLBT sports teams together under one mission, to spread the word of fitness as far and wide as possible.

For sporting devotees and lapsed netballers alike, Sports Day Out is an occasion not to be missed if you’re looking for a new way to socialise, a new club to join or just an avenue to get more acquainted with your fellow sporting community. Like a second Fair Day, but with more activities, it’s really an opportunity to have some fun, so there’s no need to feel intimidated, Team Sydney spokesperson Wally Salinger stresses.

There will be a whole lot of activities on offer -” from hockey to volleyball to ballroom dancing, and people can just rotate around as they like. It’s really all about giving people a chance to try out something new and giving people who have never played a sport before a go, by showing them some basic skills.

It’s a really important day for all the clubs involved as well. It’s a key day for sign-ups but it’s also just a great day for people to get out and meet some other sporting people from other clubs.

There will be a range of activities on the day to facilitate the inter-club mingling, including an official barbecue, a game of touch footy put on by the Convicts and a man of the mountain run led by the Frontrunners. All events are open to everyone, from absolute beginners upwards.

info: Sports Day Out will be held on October 12 at Sydney Boys High. For more info head to www.teamsydney.org.au.
