Sydney’s Midnight Shift unveils mural that pays tribute to 30 years of gay history

WITH the re-launch of the Midnight Shift, one of Sydney’s longest-running gay bars, a tribute has been paid to the city’s and the venue’s rich LGBTI history spanning three decades with a mural of 800 images from floor-to-ceiling of patrons, drag queens, DJs and other entertainers adorning the front bar’s wall.

Photos from photographers Mazz Image, Mark Dickson, Markham Lane, Ash Penin, and the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archive make up the collage along with old posters and newspaper articles dating back to 1981.

You can see the mural (pictured) when the bar is open seven days a week from midday to late.
