Condom creativity

Condom brand Durex has launched a first-of-its-kind creative challenge across more than 20 countries that will ask the young (and young at heart) to design the cover of the next Durex condom box.

Running for six weeks, the Durex Naked Box competition will give one talented participant the chance to have their unique design produced on a new Durex condom box, which will be distributed and sold globally for the world to see.

This is the first time the Aussie public has been given the chance to enter millions of bedrooms across the world by way of design.

“Durex recognises a need to help further promote condom use, but we want to do it in a fun and engaging way,” Durex Australia marketing director Christopher Tedesco said.

“We hope the Durex Naked Box competition gets people talking about condoms as we believe these conversations help increase awareness, reduce embarrassment and ultimately lead to safer sex.”

With the competition hosted online, people can create or upload and share their Naked Box design with their friends, get their votes and check out who – and what country – is scoring the most votes.

One finalist will be chosen every week for six weeks based on the highest number of votes they receive, encouraging everyone to jump online and vote for their favourite.

An additional six finalists will be chosen based on the most overall votes (twelve finalists in total).

The Durex Naked Box winner will get the chance to work with Durex’s global design agency to help ready their box design for bedrooms across the world. They will also pocket GBP£2,000 (approx $3000 AUD) and a year’s supply of condoms.

Hundreds of other prizes will be up for grabs each week including iPads, underwear, t-shirts and other Durex goodies. Special Australian-only winners will also be announced throughout the competition.

The winning design will be chosen by a panel of judges including executive director of MTV Georgia Arnold, Urban Graffiti artist Smash 137, European snowboarding pro Silvia Muller, leading Chinese designer/artist Liu Zhizhi, and international advertising guru Sue Dawn from The Brand Union.

Entrants can either create their very own designs on their computer and upload onto the site, or get creative using the range of Naked Box tools available online.

To enter or vote, and for full terms and conditions, visit www.facebook.com/Durex.Australia or www.durex.com.au

Entries are open now and close on the April 17.
