Enter to win a Frosty Fruits Ski Trip

NOW in its seventh year, the Frosty Fruits Ski Trip has fast become Australia’s premium gay and lesbian ski week held at Hotham Alpine Resort in the Victorian Alps.

With Mardi Gras being Sydney-centric and Midsumma being the same for Melbourne, Frosty Fruits also prides itself in being the only truly national LGBTI pride event, and the only one that occurs in winter.

Organised by Points of Difference Events, it is unique from other LGBTI ski events around the world because of its intimacy and friendliness.

In addition, the only thing skiers and snowboarders need to do is make one booking and show up. All the organising is done for you, making for a stress-free trip out of town.

With group chalets right on top of the mountain, the “Trippers” as they are known, can literally roll out of bed and onto the slopes to cut up some pretty white powder in the sun.

The camaraderie that develops between Trippers is also well-known. With a diverse mix of gay men, women and trans* people from a variety of backgrounds sharing on-mountain group chalets, it is the after hours fireside chats where people get to know each other and friendships develop.

The activities line-up for this year’s trip is also shaping up to be fabulous. In addition to a heap of snow time, organisers have some great evening events planned, such as the Chill-out Welcome Party, Warm-up Dinner and Drinks, Sparkling Trippers Lunch, Trivial Hirsute with Dean Arcuri, Sivilised Supper: Christmas In August, plus dog sledding, and a day spa afternoon. Not to mention the daily apres-ski events and group breakfasts to help start the day and get the social juices flowing.

Mt Hotham is home to some of Australia’s best natural snowfalls and stunning on-mountain accommodation — and some of the most hospitable LGBTI-friendly staff around. The resort’s Marketing Manager even makes a point of hosting a special “first tracks” run for the group, escorting them around the resort for beautiful pristine runs.

The trip welcomes skiers and boarders of all levels, with novices especially welcome. Ever wanted to see snow? Non-skiers are also welcome with a special “watch-man” program available.
