Adelaide Pride March to Return This Year With $80,000 In Government Funding

South Australia’s largest single-day LGBTQ+ celebration, Adelaide Pride March, is returning. The free celebration will arrive at the East End on Saturday 7 November, and Adelaideans are being asked to “mark it in glitter pen”.
“Pride March is the beating heart of it all,” wrote a spokesperson for Adelaide Pride.
“Twenty-three years running, tracing all the way back to Adelaide’s very first Proud Parade fifty-one years ago. It’s free, it’s for absolutely everyone, and it belongs to every single person who turns up to walk it.”
Those interested in marching down Adelaide’s streets in show of LGBTQ+ solidarity are encouraged to register a group for the march, with marshalling commencing from 2pm at Rymill Park on the day. Notably, all are welcome.
Who Usually Participates In The Adelaide Pride March?
“First-timers. Seasoned marchers. Families. Allies. Workmates. Footy clubs. Choirs. Drag queens on floats. Grandparents with flags tucked under their arms. If you’ve got a group, a banner, a costume idea, or just two feet and a bit of sparkle, there is a place for you in this march.”
The 2026 march marks the first time the event is being backed by the South Australian Government, with Minister for Human Services Katrine Hildyard announcing an $80,000 commitment this year, to be followed by $20,000 a year for the next four years.
“For the first time in our 23 years, the South Australian Government is backing Pride March with real, ongoing funding,” said Pride Adelaide Chair, Dave Newman. “That’s huge for us. It means this march has a future, not just a next year.”
According to Newman, the Adelaide Pride March is an event not to be missed.
“It’s the one day a year our whole community, and everyone who stands with us, walks down the street side by side and says we’re here, we’re proud, and we’re not going anywhere,” said Newman. “Especially this year, with everything going on, marching together has never mattered more. If you’ve ever thought about joining us, this is the year to actually do it.”
