Bake sale for genderqueer

Online support group Melbourne Genderqueer is going national next week to provide online support and information for gender-questioning and genderqueer people across the country.

From July 1, the Melbourne-based organisation will change its name to Genderqueer Australia (GQA).

GQA will launch its new website with a bake sale and clothing swap-meet at Thousand Pound Bend, Melbourne from on June 30, 2-5pm.

Genderqueer Australia spokesperson Lisa Sinclair said the organisation was growing due to a lack of a national organisation.

“We felt it was time to create a national resource along the lines of FTM [female-to-male] Australia which would be focussed on genderqueer and gender-questioning people, and provide support to people who wanted to run social support for these groups in other states,” Sinclair said.

The website has been improved to make it easier for visitors to find information and support.
