Griffin talk show to debut in 2012

Kathy Griffin fans wanting more of the fiery-haired comedienne following the final season of her Emmy Award-winning series My Life on the D-List will be excited to hear the comedienne’s US television network Bravo has greenlit her very own weekly talk show, titled Kathy.

Kathy was announced along with the rest of Bravo’s 2012 lineup this week, and the network hyped the one-hour program as “the destination to get Griffin’s thoughts on everything pop culture as she rants on the week’s biggest headlines and tabloid gossip as well as feature stand-up routines, celebrity interviews and taped segments.”

The show will screen on Bravo at some point in the first half of this year. Australian Foxtel channel Arena is closely partnered with Bravo and screened My Life on the D-List, making the show’s appearance there likely.

Griffin’s trademark style of riffing on her own Hollywood obscurity and lampooning outrageous celebrity behaviour has seen her formerly D-grade career rejuvenated, and her dedication to campaigning for the LGBTI community has earned her a loyal gay following.

She toured Australia briefly last year with live stand-up comedy shows in Sydney and Melbourne. Griffin also films several stand-up specials a year for Bravo, the most recent of which is titled Tired Hooker. The specials are available for Australians to view on YouTube.
