Ladyhawke talks new album
Kiwi pop star Ladyhawke has opened up about her new album, specifically her new dark sound and the pressure of replicating the success of her debut.
Best known in this country for her top 10 hit My Delirium, Pip (her real name) became an international pop sensation in 2008 with a string of popular singles including Paris Is Burning (below) and Back Of The Van.
Since then Ladyhawke has been busy working on the follow up in London but fears falling into the dreaded sophomore slump.
“It’s been really weighing me down,” she told Stuff.co.nz. “I just keep thinking people are going to want to hear a Paris Is Burning or My Delirium but I’m not going to have those songs, it’s going to be a completely different album and style.”
“It’s still pop, it’s just a bit darker and a bit rockier.”

Ladyhawke’s second album is due for release towards the end of 2011.
