Fraticelli has since deleted his Twitter page after Rowling defended the character (see below), which led to a barrage of tweets from in support of Rowling.

Brian Souter, who is referenced in Rowling’s response, is Scotland’s richest businessman and known for funding and supporting anti-gay legislation.

Rowling first “outed” Dumbledore during an an audience Q&A back in 2007.

When asked if her character had ever been in love, she responded: “I always thought of Dumbledore as gay.”

She further explained, “Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was.” (A dark wizard).

Later, Rowling thanked her Twitter following for their support.
