How About I Be Me (And You Be You?) – Sinead O’Connor

How About I Be Me (And You Be You?) – Sinead O’Connor

With more than a decade passed since her last stab at mainstream music, with 2000’s outstanding Faith and Courage, Sinead O’Connor’s known more for her outspoken, erratic behaviour these days than for her music. Let’s hope How About… goes some way to redressing the balance, because it’s a fantastic return to form for this singular voice. From the rollicking folk-pop of opener 4th and Vine onwards, it’s an engaging, at times brutally honest record, with O’Connor’s trademark upfront lyrics (“And I even pulled the odd hijack, pulled a hypodermic in me backpack, but I was only bluffing”) couched in gorgeous melodies. And first single The Wolf Is Getting Married easily stands alongside her best songs — check her out performing it live on The Graham Norton Show below.

How About I Be Me (And You Be You) is released in Australia on March 16.
