JOY GM moves to Queer Film

JOY 94.9 general manager Danae Gibson is set to move to Melbourne Queer Film Festival (MQFF).

JOY president David McCarthy confirmed the move this morning and said Gibson would be missed but wished her well in her new role.

“It will be sad to see her go, but it’s fantastic for Queer Film,” McCarthy told the Star Observer.

“She’ll only be one floor away and will still volunteer with JOY, so she will still be involved.”

JOY and MQFF are both housed in the Melbourne City Village in Bourke Street.

McCarthy said an acting GM will be appointed over the next three to four months while JOY searches to fill the role.

JOY – currently holding its annual radiothon- will also appoint a new part-time volunteer manager to work at the station three days a week.

Gibson will replace long-time MQFF GM Rowena Doo.

MQFF director Lisa Daniel said the organisation was “very excited” to welcome Gibson.

“She has achieved amazing results at JOY in a very short time,” Daniel said.

As part of an overall restructure, a new festival operations manager will also be installed.

Daniel will head to the Frameline Film Festival in San Francisco this month to source films for the 2012 program.

  1. Where can an old Queen see a Queer film in Darkest Brisbane?
Every film advertised on billboards is all about heterosexuals fornicating, they just can’t help themselves.

It’s as if those nutty American Evangelist’s have hijacked the movie industry to promote their wholesome, white marriage agenda.

The only time they ever stop breeding is when they are too old and fall into an open grave at a funeral.

When she/he falls into the grave, a girl fiend will say to another standing by, “there together at last”. “What, her and her friend”? “No her legs”.

Good luck in Melbourne. Parade that nasty, Premier Bailluuuuuuussss’s head on a Platter.
