Lifetime Award for Bob Downe

BobDowneCurrentComedic character Bob Downe was recognised for his life’s work as a cabaret star at the Green Room Awards held on Monday in Melbourne.

Melbourne’s premier arts awards bestowed Downe, also known as Melbourne-born Mark Trevorrow, the Special Award for Lifetime Contribution to Cabaret.

Downe came to life as part of a comedy duo with Cathy Armstrong in 1984.

Trevorrow first took Downe overseas to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1988 where he was an instant hit.

Downe has featured on stage and on television, even hosting his own talk show, the Bob Downe Show in 2000.

Most recently he was seen on stage with Margaret Cho as part of her Australian tour, Mother.
