Malaysian schoolboys sent to gay ‘cure’ camp

Malaysian authorities have sent 66 Muslim schoolboys to a gay ‘cure’ camp after school teachers identified them as being effeminate.

The four-day camp will see the boys receive counseling on masculine behaviour and discourage them from being gay according to a  education director from Terengganu state.

Gay rights advocates have denounced the camp and see is as a symptom of widespread homophobia in this Muslim-majority country where gay sex is illegal.

The camp is meant “to guide them back to the right path in life before they reach a point of no return,” state official Razali Daud told The Associated Press. “Such effeminate behavior is unnatural and will affect their studies and their future.”

It is the first such program in the conservative state.

  1. I’m no gay but seriously I don’t quite like the programme. Increase homophobic is onething. But chance of labelings and stereotyping is higher. You chose those who are considered “feminine” as participants. It’s like saying those who are feminine are bound to be gays or all gays are soft males.. Very STEREOTYPE and LABELINGS

  2. Another profoundly dumb response via psuedo-science in the name of a neo-infanticide sky god.
