Cabaret to raise Movember funds
Aiming to provide a camp version of the world of Disney, a cabaret event later this month in Sydney will not only poke fun at cartoon characters but help raise money for Movember.
Defy Cancer II is the sequel to a similar fundraiser held successfully last year, with this year’s event to take place on November 30 at The Red Room. Audiences can expect circus, burlesque, magic and cabaret delivered by a stellar cast.
Performers already on the line-up include Brabazon & Belladonna, Christopher Hawkins, Dizzy La La, Jester Smilez, Kerry X, Lordof Mis- Rule, Mama La Roux, Marcella Minx, Mystique Rose, Magician Neo, Pickled Tink, Sofonda Blackmen, Sparkles Ahoy, Venus Vamp and April Sin.
Host for the evening’s festivities will be the Mad Hatter himself – circus and burlesque performer, Defy.
The event’s producer, Mark Inwood, told the Star Observer he was proud to be involved with such talented performers for a very important cause.
“As a fund-raiser, all ticket sales go directly to Movember and all of the performers and crew have graciously donated their time and resources to make the night a success.
“Movember supports world class men’s health programs that combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges,” he said.
“These programs, directed by the Movember Foundation, are focused on awareness and education, living with and beyond cancer, staying mentally healthy, living with and beyond mental illness and research to achieve the vision of an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health.”
