Dawson at Fair Day
Australia’s Next Top Model judge Charlotte Dawson will make an appearance at Fair Day this weekend.
The TV personality will host one of Fair Day’s most popular contests, judging the most elaborately attired Fair Day goers as they compete for the title of Mr or Mrs Fair Day.
Dawson is also one of the hosts of the FOXTEL coverage of this year’s Mardi Gras Parade on March 7 alongside Alex Perry and Pam Ann.
New Mardi Gras chair David Imrie said he was looking forward to Charlotte’s tell-it-like-it-is attitude.
I’m sure she’ll be a fabulous and fair judge. But if any of our contestants turn into Dapto Dogs I expect Charlotte to sort them out, he said, referring to one of Charlotte’s infamous put-downs on last year’s Australia’s Next Top Model.
Budding Mr and Ms Fair Day wannabees should come to the main stage in all their frippery and finery before the competition begins at 4.40pm.
Dawson joins a host of other talent gracing the stages at Fair Day including Bob Downe, DJ Kitty Glitter, Chasing Bailey and She Said Yes on the main stage with Lesbian Super Group and some hot new talent on the Broadway Stage.
Meanwhile, up at the Lounge Space presented by Bitch, sounds will be supplied by Alex Taylor, Sista P, Chip, Beatrix and Renae Stanton.
Fair Day will this year include the official launch of the Mardi Gras season.
Fair Day is one of the highlights of the Mardi Gras calendar and the largest GLBT community events in the country and if past successes are anything to by we think 2009 is going to be the best year yet, Imrie said.
info: Fair Day will be held in Camperdown’s Victoria Park on Sunday 15 February from 10am. Fair Day is a licensed event and no glass or alcohol can be brought onto the park.
