Dykes On Bikes Sydney celebrates another landmark year
IN a year that produced an increase in membership and donations to two chosen community organisations, the Dykes on Bikes Sydney committee of the past two years stood down and handed the reins to the incoming committee.
The new committee consists of Karen Askew (joint media officer), Emily Saunders (secretary), Coralie Lester (vice president), Manda Hatter (president), Vanessa Rook (treasurer), Nat Woods (merchandise), Bex Hulands (membership) and Mel Kelly (joint media officer). [All pictured above]
The outgoing committee reviewed the past year’s events and declared the club financial viable.
A cheque for $2000 was also presented by the outgoing president Karen Cooper to Lauren Foy of the NSW Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby. Funds were also raised for Suicide Prevention Australia.
Meanwhile, members voted on two charities on which Dykes on Bikes Sydney will focus on supporting in the 2014/2015 year, as follows:
• The Pinnacle Foundation supporting LGBTI youth in their educational pursuits and career mentoring.
• The NSW Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby.
