Jason beats off Britains

Mr Harbour City Bear, Jason Lee, has added another sash to his already overloaded shoulders, this time in the mother country.
Lee, who already holds the Mr Australasia Bear title, was named Mr Great British Bear Bash at the event of the same name at the Birdcage nightclub in Manchester.
“I’m so happy it’s great to win, especially good when you beat the Poms,” Lee told Sydney Star Observer from the UK.
“Who would have thought a year ago when I entered the Mr HCB competition that I would go on to win the Mr Australasia Bear title and now this.
“Everyone jokes that I’m a sash queen but now I have three sashes, I guess I am.”
Mr GBBB was held this month as part of the annual Great British Bear Bash at the Birdcage.
Lee won a cash prize and a photoshoot for a local gay and lesbian health charity — promoting health to UK Bears and Cubs.
His win is timely as the Harbour City Bears start the hunt for contestants for the 2010 Mr Harbour City Bear competition, to be held at the Oxford Hotel later this month.
Bears, Cubs, young guys, old guys and all races and nationalities are welcome to enter. The winner will walk away with not only the prestige of being Sydney’s number one Bear, but also a return flight to Melbourne and spending money to take part in the coveted Mr Bear Australasia competition at Southern HiBearnation.
Judges this year include Sydney Star Observer publisher Scott Abrahams, TimeOut Sydney gay and lesbian editor Andrew Georgio and the current title-holder, Jason Lee.
