Massachusetts marriage vote looms

The only US state that allows gay marriage could hold a vote on a same-sex marriage ban after legislators voted on the issue this week.Massachusetts’ legislature voted against a constitutional amendment that would define marriage as between a man and a woman, BBC News reported. But there were still enough votes in favour of the proposed amendment to allow a future legislature vote.If the legislature approves the gay marriage ban proposal in a future voting round, it could be voted on publicly during elections in 2008.
