GETTING LEATHER PROUD
Those who live and love leather are excited about the upcoming Leather Pride Week. The Sydney Leather Pride Association has announced its week of events starting Saturday 8 May with a special leather physique competition. The annual Leather Fair Day at Prince Alfred Park will be held on Sunday 9 May. Leather Fair Day is a chance for the leather community to come together, have some lunch and a beer, watch a day of entertainment and visit the stalls of community organisations and businesses. Leather person of the year will also be announced on the day. Later in the evening the Metropolitan Community Church (the only church in Sydney with an openly gay, leather jacket-wearing priest) will hold a special service in Petersham. An art exhibition and education workshops will run through the week leading up to the year’s leading leather and fetish party, Inquisition. This year’s Inquisition will be at Fox Studios and have a capacity of 2,200 people. A Bob Buckley Memorial Lecture will be held at a date to be set.
