Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, Chess is a musical about a love that struggles to survive under the glare of the media spotlight.

With music from the ABBA songwriting team of Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and lyrics by Tim Rice, it also features some of the biggest hits ever to be written for musical theatre, including One Night in Bangkok, Someone Else’s Story and the classic I Know Him So Well.

Directed by NIDA graduate Dennis Clements and supported by a 19-piece orchestra, the Ashfield Musical Society’s new staging of Chess is sure to be a lush musical theatre experience. It’s running from October 29-November 1 at the Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club.
