Time to see red

ACON is looking for more community volunteers to ensure the success of The Red Ribbon Appeal in the lead up to World AIDS Day on 1 December.
Volunteers will be asked to make ribbons prior to Red Ribbon Day on 30 November, and sell ribbons, pins and wrist-bands at various locations around Sydney on the day. Times required on November 30 are 7am-11am, 11am-3pm or 3pm-7pm.
Volunteer Madeline Basquiat spent six hours making ribbons for the appeal last year, and said she was looking forward to taking part in the initiative again.
“I just sit on the lounge and make ribbons, it’s really quite relaxing,” she said.
“It is also very fulfilling to make that transition from someone who says ‘I am going to donate my time to charity’, to actually doing it.”
Training for Red Ribbon Day volunteering will be held at ACON in Sydney on 24 November.
