The ChillOut Festival has dropped a bombshell today revealing the 2010 festival may be in jeopardy with the last-minute termination of their event management contract with the Adam Lowe Group (ALG).
With the future of the 2010 festival now uncertain, festival organisers will meet in the next few days for an emergency review into viability of next year’s event as a result of the split.
ChillOut organisers sent out a press release today advising the contract had ended, ChillOut president, Adam Wright however said he anticipates the festival will still go-ahead.
“This is a difficult time for us and the end of the contract with ALG places us in a challenging position with the 2010 festival just two months away,” he said.
“But we remain fully focused on delivering the 2010 ChillOut Festival.”
No firm reasons have yet been given as to the partnership’s end.
“We need to effect an orderly handover of the management of the festival and ensure that we are able to go ahead without the services of ALG,” Wright said.
“Once that is done, we expect to be moving on with bringing our community the best ChillOut festival ever.”
The contract news comes as two long-serving board members, Jim Culbertson – also festival director – and Gregory True have announced their departure from the committee.
True and Culbertson said they wish the festival success in the future.
Southern Star is awaiting further comment from the ChillOut organising committee.
ChillOut is set to be held on March 5 – 7 next year.
