The Glasshouse Hotel in Collingwood will see a changing of the guard this month, with a female duo set to take over from current licensee Maria Frendo.
After two-and-a-half-years running the popular queer night spot, Frendo will hand over the reins to Libby Wimshurst and Rachel Findlay.
During her time, Frendo maintained the indie queer feel of the venue and saw the rise of popular queer nights Gay Shame and Quork Mutant Disco.
“I’ve loved it,” she said. “I’ve had some good times there, fantastic, great.”
Frendo said her decision was a move to scale back in 2010. She said she would remain at Gertrude St institution Dantes, where she has been for 13 years.
Frendo will farewell the venue in style with a karaoke evening at the Glasshouse this Sunday, October 11 from 8pm.
