Gone, but not forgotten

Cherished Melbourne showgirl Vivien St James received the recognition she deserved last week — a full house at the Greyhound Hotel (GH) applauding the official presentation of her Posthumous Community Recognition ALSO Award.

The award was presented to longtime friend Paris who performed Chrissy Amphlett’s version of Quiet Please, There’s a Lady on Stage in honour of her friend.

ALSO Foundation CEO Crusader Hillis said St James’ performances had elevated the Palace in St Kilda to the level of “the Palace on Broadway”.

St James’ award was not officially presented at the ALSO Awards held in June due to the event running overtime.
The glittering performer died suddenly on March 4, 2009 after a short battle with a brain tumour.
