Metamorphis Theatre Company, the new Melbourne independent artistic collective with a queer bent, had its grand opening at the Glasshouse Hotel this month.

Acts such as Camp Camp Revolution, Dean Arcuri, Jade Leonard and Kaye Sera took to the stage to entertain the crowd of about 100 and the company raised over $1000 for their first production in December.

Co-convenor of the group, Jessi Lewis, said he was thrilled with the response.

UPDATE:

Kevin McGreal has today (28/10) notified SSO that he is no longer co-artistic director of Metamorphis Theatre Company.
“I will continue to support the GLBT community with my work in the future,” he said.
“I have no doubt that Jessi will be able to continue this wonderful theatre collective with the best intentions.”
No further details were provided.
