Nitti picking over music

Nitti picking over music

Making music is an art. Taking that music, remixing it and giving it a whole new sound without disrespecting the raw material is another art form again.
When it comes to the latter, J Nitti is considered one of the best -” which may account for why he has rejoined Sydney DJ Alex Taylor on the second instalment of Vinyl Pusher’s It’s All About House Music compilation series, bringing the sounds of Ibiza and Miami to Australian club music lovers.
Nitti told Sydney Star Observer the key to creating good material was having good people around you.
It’s all about the laying down of good foundations and then layering upon that without creating confusion or taking away from the fundamental groove of the track, he said.
I think house will evolve and change as it always has. Right now there is a tribal and tech feel coming to the genre.
But how can you ensure the energy of a live show is captured in an album?
The selection of the tracks comes first, then the tracks are mixed together in musical key reference, always keeping in mind that this is not only a set that needs to progress, but it’s a listening CD as well -” this is where the crew at Vinyl Pusher’s experience comes in, Nitti said.
There is more control, but you are at the mercy of the tracks that are chosen for the mix. Aside from that, it’s still turntables or CDs and a mixer.
Alex is in my top 10 DJs in the world. As far as our styles go we are different -” he plays more up and vocal while I tend to go deep and tech sometimes.
Looking back at the history of the music genre and its popularity on the gay club circuit, Nitti said the vocals are very important to the scene.
He said the gay community had pioneered the house sound in clubs from the very early days of its emergence.
Both Nitti and Taylor are about to embark on a tour of Europe and hope to share their trendsetting sound with the many millions of house music partygoers.
