Antwerp prep begins
The Wellington Outgames may have only just finished, but preparation is already underway for the 2013 competition in Antwerp, Belgium.
The call has gone out for volunteers wanting to take part in the organisation and smooth running of the many events that make up the Games.
Registration is also already open for athletes/participants, with an early registration fee of €160 (approximately AUD$233) running out on August 31 this year. Tickets include participation in a sports competition, cultural program of human rights conference (as nominated), a reserved spot at the opening and closing ceremonies, a participation medal, transport pass, and a possible hosted housing application.
Alongside traditional sports to be offered at the 2013 Games, there will also be competition in ballroom dancing, chess, cross country running, figure skating, martial arts, synchronized swimming, wrestling and an ironman event.
2013 will also be the 10th anniversary of Belgium’s introduction of civil marriage for same-sex partners — making the Games an even more special occasion, and will likely be a starting point for discussions in the human rights conference.
