Dykes go walking

Victorian women’s sporting group Sporty Dykes is set to get some fresh air and head to the bush this Saturday, March 18.

The group will make the trek to the Dandenong Ranges to wander along the Eastern Sherbrooke Forest Trail, near Kallista. The area is well known for its wildlife, including lyrebirds, wombats, swamp wallabies, echidnas, possums and owls.

The group will meet at Grants Picnic Ground at 11am. Participants are urged to bring a packed lunch and water. The 6.6 km walk will be a moderate pace.

Sporty Dykes is a relaxed collective of lesbian and bisexual women who participate in sports of all kinds.

The group was set up through a grant from the Asia Pacific Outgames Legacy Fund and emphasises participation rather than competition.
