Gay water polo club Melbourne Surge claimed two decisive victories over Sydney rivals the Stingers over the weekend. Two matches were played at the South Yarra Sports Centre with Surge beating their northern rivals in the first Cup Match, 6–1. Proving luck played no part in the first game scoreboard, after a break, the Surge boys wiped out their opponents in the DT’s Trophy Match, winning 16–2. The two clubs will meet again in Sydney next month for a rematch during the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
