Outgames fee change

Outgames fee change

Time has run out to register for the 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames at the standard fee rate, with late entry fees having kicked in from February 7.

Registrations are continuing to pour in for the 16 sports competitions and the human rights conference. Participant numbers for some events — including the dancesport, running, and tenpin bowling competitions, as well as the conference — already exceed those of the 1st AsiaPacific Outgames held in Melbourne in 2008.

Details of new events being held during the Outgames week — including a dinner in the whare waka (canoe house) on the Wellington waterfront — are being added regularly to the Outgames website.

Outgames organisers say all the planning is running smoothly but stress that accommodation will go quickly due to the busy season in March.

“We have been told by Accor, our hotel group sponsor, that the discounted hotel rooms on offer to Outgames participants and supporters are going to be filled well before March,” Outgames co-chair David Hindley said.

The 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames is eight days of sports competition, a human rights conference, a major arts and cultural festival, and social events in Wellington, New Zealand from March 12-19. Registrations close February 26.
