Tropical Pride Festival seeks new blood
The Cairns Tropical Pride Festival celebrates its sixth year in 2012 and it invites the LGBT community to become involved in the planning and running of the event.
The committee is looking at a 10-day program and is opening up the floor to new ideas.
Some of the events to be included are the Cairns Festival Parade LGBT float and the OUT Proud Party on Saturday, August 18; the Cairns Tropical Pride Awards Evening at Turtle Cove Resort on Friday, August 24; and the Cairns Tropical Pride Fair Day at The Tanks on Sunday, August 26.
A Queensland transgender conference, a film event and queer art exhibition have been suggested.
The committee will hold an open meeting to discuss the festival on Thursday, February 23, 5.30-6.30pm, at the LGBTI Resource Centre (290 Draper St, Cairns) followed by drinks and pizza.
