Congratulations to Tropical Fruits

ACON Northern Rivers, the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF) and the Lismore Sexual Health Service (SHAIDS) have partnered for the second Phoenix regional workshop to be held in the beautiful Tweed Valley.

This will be a practical learning environment in the foothills of the stunning Border Ranges. Guest facilitators will present information sessions and there will be complementary therapies such as massages, meditation and yoga. The workshop will run for three days and two nights with all meals and accommodation provided.

This workshop will be held from noon Friday, October 21 to 2pm Sunday, October 23 at the Gunnebah Retreat Centre, 586 Nobbys Creek Rd, Nobbys Creek, via Murwillumbah. All people with HIV in regional or rural NSW who are considering a positive life change are encouraged to attend.

Transport may be available from some key centres in northern NSW, travel reimbursements are available to eligible BGF clients and car pooling is welcome. The cost is $60 per participant as a co-contribution towards accommodation and catering (to be paid by October 7).

Tributes are flowing in the Northern Rivers for local community group Tropical Fruits after it was announced it’s a finalist in this year’s prestigious ACON Honour Awards. Tropical Fruits is one of the 25 finalists who were selected from more than 100 nominations received across six categories covering the business, health, education, community, legal, political, media and cultural sectors.

A big congratulations to Tropical Fruits for being nominated as Community Organisation of the Year for outstanding social and cultural development of the Northern Rivers LGBT Community.

Tropical Fruits has been supporting and creating social inclusion opportunities for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities of the Northern Rivers for the past 23 years. Tropical Fruits is one of the longest-running independent regional grassroots volunteer LGBT community groups in Australia.
